Job Description

Lead solutions to challenging hardware problems for Orb and other devices. Lead diverse work streams and collaborate with various teams, architecting next-generation verification devices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the exploration of novel electro-mechanical components and systems to enable new forms of biometric verification
  • Support the workstreams across Electrical Design, Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, Product, Device Software and Industrialization
  • Influence the Mechanical design including device enclosure comprised of highly cosmetic and dimensionally accurate glass, metal and plastic parts.
  • Influence the optical design and integration of complex optical components including a custom liquid lens, RGB/IR camera lenses, autofocus and optical filter elements
  • Evaluate sensors and RGB/IR cameras that meet the security and performance requirements
  • Manage cross functional dependencies, risks, and changes effectively by optimizing scope, schedule, and resources accordingly
  • Monitor program status and rapidly identify issues / risks. Succinctly communicate issues to relevant stakeholders and proactively collaborate to ensure timely resolution

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, embedded systems, IoT devices, or related fields.
  • Exceptional hardware design (mechanical and electrical) architecture and detailed design experience with high volume production devices
  • Attention to detail
  • You care a great deal about good design
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or design related discipline
  • Enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy solving hard problems and can turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into action plans
  • You are able to handle projects from kick-off to production, demonstrating critical thinking and thought leadership.
  • You look around the corners to anticipate potential blockers and navigate effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, build strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders and teams around the organization in order to drive alignment within the organization
