Job Description

Galaxy Asset Management (GAM) seeks a Vice President of Risk Management to collaborate with portfolio managers and traders on portfolio construction, investment and risk analysis. The role ensures senior management is informed of all relevant risks.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with CRO and other Risk managers to establish and operate the risk management framework for the global GAM business
  • Identify, measure, and manage financial and non-financial risks across GAM’s multiple business lines
  • Leverage on-chain information to enable data driven decision making and risk management
  • Build tools to extract information from DeFi protocols
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of systems to calculate risk metrics and performance evaluation
  • Communicate with risk takers to assess positions and volatility
  • Produce risk reports for risk takers, risk managers, and senior management
  • Analyze, assess, visualize and report risks to CRO, and senior management
  • Monitor risks across multiple time zones

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience (risk/quant/trading, buy-side is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience of working with Portfolio Managers and knowledge of hedge fund strategies
  • Experience in regulatory engagements relating to asset management
  • Extensive knowledge of Risk Modelling e.g., stochastic volatility, factor risk modelling, PCA
  • Deep knowledge of Digital Assets and DeFi or a deep-seated interest to learn about this space
  • Degree in finance, computer science or other quantitative subjects
  • Experience in Python, SQL, and Excel and ability to build systems from scratch
  • Good communication skills and is a critical thinker
