Galaxy Digital seeks a Vice President, Legal APAC, to assist with regional legal matters, develop legal strategies, and ensure compliance with global laws and regulations. This role requires experience in financial services and a deep understanding of APAC laws regarding crypto assets.

Requirements

  • A degree in Law is required with at least 3-6 years of PQE experience in the area of financial services.
  • In-house experience providing legal advice on general corporate matters in the APAC region.
  • An understanding of HK SFC and SG MAS laws in relation to crypto assets. Knowledge of other relevant international laws and regulatory frameworks (UAE, US, FATF) preferable.
  • Understanding of laws & regulatory frameworks governing the cross-border distribution of financial products within the APAC region.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring commercial legal policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with blockchain technology, digital assets, and the crypto asset ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex law and legal concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A commitment to ethical behavior, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information.
  • Spoken and written languages: Fluent in English, Proficient in Chinese.
  • Responsibilities

  • Assist on local legal matters, including governance, employment and general corporate matters.
  • Continuous development of legal and regulatory strategies, policies, and procedures for cryptoasset activities in the APAC region across trading, investment banking, and asset management, including managing legal and regulatory changes and uncertainty.
  • Draft and negotiate current and future counterparty and various agreements including but not limited to trading documentation including NDAs, purchase and sale agreements, ISDAs, MLAs, lending, vendor agreements etc.
  • Work with various business owners to create solutions to mitigate counterparty and customer risk with regards to bilateral agreements and understand how settlement and margin function within an agreement.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of the firm's activities to identify potential risks and develop appropriate mitigating measures.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze APAC laws, regulations and industry trends in the crypto & digital asset space and make recommendations to the management on necessary enhancements to the firm's legal and compliance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including legal, risk, and technology teams to maintain a robust and up-to-date legal advice and frameworks for cryptoasset activities.
  • Be a standard-bearer for a positive legal culture and work with the business to achieve best-in-class legal outcomes.
